NAMI Family Support Group meetings are free, monthly 90-minute support groups of family and friends of individuals living with a mental illness where they can talk frankly about their challenges and help one another through their learned wisdom and coping strategies. The support group meetings offer a safe and confidential place to give family members and friends the support they need. With their shared experiences, family members can better understand and support their loved ones living with mental illness while maintaining their own well-being. All meetings are facilitated by trained NAMI family members.
“We are pleased to expand our programs and greatly appreciate Grace Cottage offering their Community Wellness Center to conduct this important support group for families who are impacted by mental illness,” said Phil Blackburn, president of NAMI Vermont.
NAMI Southern Vermont, an affiliate of NAMI Vermont offers two additional family support groups at the 1st Congregational Church, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro on the 1st Wednesday at 6:30 pm., and at the Equinox Village (2nd floor) in Manchester on the 4th Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
NAMI Vermont’s programs are made possible in part by a grant from the Vermont Department of Mental Health. For more information, contact NAMI Vermont at 1-800-639-6480 or program@namivt.org or to find a complete list of all of our offerings, visit us on the web at www.namivt.org.
