Emergency Care

At Grace Cottage Hospital, we expect your “unexpected.” Despite our small size, Grace Cottage provides full access to state-of-the-art emergency medical care and diagnostic testing. Our six-bed emergency department offers trauma/critical care, specialized behavioral health care, and four general treatment areas. Our patients are cared for by highly-skilled and specially-trained medical providers and nurses, and we are open 24 hours a day, every day.

We do all of this without losing sight of our mission: to provide excellent, personalized, and compassionate emergency care.

If you need a higher level of care, we will stabilize and arrange ground or air transport to a nearby trauma center, to ensure your treatment is appropriate and seamless.

Grace Cottage Family Health and Hospital provides emergency care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay or eligibility for financial assistance.

“I was painting our garage last fall when I fell 14 feet off the scaffolding. When I came to three hours later, I was looking at my wife in the ER at Grace Cottage. The Emergency Department staff made me feel relaxed and comfortable, as if I were the only one there. After I had a CT scan and an EKG to check for internal injuries (thankfully, there were none), they put 11 staples in the back of my head. My wife and I agreed that I was a better dentist (I’m retired now) than I am a painter! ~ Joe Prignano, Marlboro, VT
