TOWNSHEND, Vt. -A familiar face is now holding the top spot at the Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend.
Former Agriculture secretary Roger Albee has served of the board at Grace Cottage for several years. Since the beginning of this year, he has been the acting interim CEO. At Grace Cottage. Albee has been tasked with keeping the small rural hospital viable in a changing time for the health care industry.
“When you talk to the so-called experts, but I’m not sure who is an expert today, they say the future is in primary care, home health, wellness criteria, and keeping people out of the hospital. Windham County is the oldest aging population in Vermont and probably one of the oldest in the United States so we know what Grace Cottage does on primary care is the future but we have to collaborate with others and we are looking at those collaborative models,” said Albee.
Albee grew up in Brookline not far from the hospital and he and his brother, Ronald, were the first twins ever successfully delivered by Dr. Carlos Otis who founded Grace Cottage in 1949.
