Memorial & Tribute Gifts

Your gift to Grace Cottage Hospital can be a special way to honor the memory of a loved one, to recognize a dedicated caregiver, to commemorate an anniversary or a birthday, or to celebrate a holiday.

Memorial Gifts

Many families choose to ask that charitable gifts be made in memory of their loved one in lieu of flowers. The online gift form provides a place to indicate who the gift remembers, or gifts can be mailed to Grace Cottage with a note indicating that it is in memory of the individual.

Foundation staff can assist families in establishing memorial gifts and the appropriate language for an obituary. Or family can include a simple statement such as “In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Grace Cottage Hospital. Memorial gifts may be made online or sent to Grace Cottage Foundation, P.O. Box 1, Townshend, VT 05353.”

Tribute Gifts

Tributes—a gift in honor of someone—not only support Grace Cottage, but also provide unexpected recognition to the person honored. The gift may be in honor of a special occasion, to recognize extraordinary care, or to honor a special person. The online gift form provides a place to indicate who the gift honors, or gifts can be mailed to Grace Cottage with a note indicating that it is in honor of the individual.

To make a donation in honor of Dr. Robert Backus’s retirement, and contribute to a program for the care of our senior citizens, simply type “Dr. Backus” in the “In honor of” field on our on-line donation form, or write “Dr. Backus” in the memo field of your check. We will let Dr. Backus know that we received a gift from you!

For all other memorial and tribute gifts, if you wish us to notify the individual(s) you are honoring or their family members of your gift, please include their name and addresses with your gift. We customarily report the names of the gift-givers, but not the amount.
