After graduating from University of Iowa’s PA program in 1990, Jim Picone started his medical career in the Emergency Department of Central Vermont Medical Center. In the decades which have followed, Picone has worked at University of Vermont Medical Center, Green Mountain Orthopedic Surgery, Clear Choice MD, and Valley Regional Hospital Orthopedic Group.

Jim Picone and his wife have relocated from the Montpelier region. They enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing with their two dogs. Picone plays the fiddle and attends art workshops in his free time.

“There is something special about a small hospital in a community that appreciates the local hospital and people who work there,” said Picone. “As hospitals affiliate with larger entities, they risk losing the personal touch that Grace Cottage is known for. Most of my career has been in emergency and urgent care, along with orthopedics, and I value getting to know the person, and helping to solve his or her particular challenges. I believe that family practice is the most rewarding way to accomplish this.”
