Join AARP Vermont at Grace Cottage Hospital on Tuesday, April 12th at 7:00 pm for a free hour-long workshop on how to protect yourself and your loved ones from frauds, scams, and identity theft. Last year, 13 million people were the victims of identity theft alone. Don’t let one of them be you!
In this workshop, you’ll learn about fraud trends and the behaviors that put you at risk. You’ll take home lessons from the con-artists’ playbook, gain knowledge about how to recognize “red flags,” and how to employ prevention strategies to avoid becoming a victim. You will also learn when and how to report suspicious activities and gain resources should you or someone you know falls prey to these criminals.
Internet scams are no longer just emails from places like Nigeria, asking you to send money. They are now sophisticated operations in which con artists can mask themselves to look like legitimate personal contacts, using logos and email addresses that are familiar to you.
This free hour-long workshop, led by Vermont AARP Fraud Watch Coordinator Elliott Greenblott, will be followed by a Q&A. No pre-registration is required. Don’t miss this important event: Tuesday, April 12, 7:00pm, Grace Cottage Foundation, Heins Building, 133 Grafton Road (Route 35), Townshend, VT. For more information, call 802-365-3649.
