Louise McDevitt earned her B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts. She received her L.P.N. from Thompson School of Nursing and her A.S.N. from Southern Vermont College. She earned her Master’s of Science Family Nurse Practitioner from Simmons College in Boston. McDevitt joined Dr. Shafer’s practice in 1992, and move with him to Grace Cottage in 2003.

McDevitt is a Senior Lecturer with Fitzgerald Health Education Associates, which provides national and international nurse practitioner education programs. She is also a clinical instructor at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, the University of Vermont Graduate School of Nursing Nurse Practitioner Program, and the University of Massachusetts. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in Acute Care, Family Practice, and Adult Care.

Louise and her husband Michael Piniewski have two daughters, Kate and Devan. Louise enjoys sailing, telemark skiing, and yoga.
